CARSTAR Super’Stang Gears Up To Grant Wish For Local Make-A-Wish® Child
(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 5, 2007) – The Arizona CARSTAR Business Group, composed of 17 stores throughout the state of Arizona, will pit stop its re-creation of a legendary 1967 Mustang on Dec. 5 at the CARSTAR Charity Golf Tournament as part of a nationwide tour to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. The tournament will be held at the Orange Tree Resort, 10601 N. 56 Street in Scottsdale, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“This is our first charity golf tournament and we all decided that this would be a great event to benefit such a wonderful organization,” said CARSTAR Business Development Manager Keith Going. “Any way that we can continue to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation and help grant the wishes of such deserving children, we will.”
All proceeds from the CARSTAR Charity Golf Tournament will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona. The organization helps children and teens such as Shelbi, a 15-year-old Phoenix girl who will share her story at the tournament’s 12:30 p.m. luncheon. Shelbi, who has a life-threatening illness, recently was granted her wish to travel to the Bahamas where she stayed at the Atlantis Resort.
“Shelbi is a great example of how strong and positive these courageous children are, even when facing a difficult illness,” said Nicole Romanoff, events and communications associate for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona. “Shelbi is excited to share her powerful story and we are grateful that others will get the opportunity to hear it.”
Going said he expects more than 100 tournament participants at the par 72 PGA-rated Orange Tree Resort and hopes to raise $10,000. The money will be presented to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the tournament’s closing ceremonies scheduled between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
“We’ve had a tremendous response so far,” Going said. “Our hole sponsors are national and local businesses alike. We are determined that we are going to reach our goal of $10,000.”
The CARSTAR Super’Stang, created by CARSTAR and one of the country’s leading restorer of Mustangs, Jeff Yergovich, is the centerpiece of an 18-month fundraising tour to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This legendary 1967 prototype Ford Mustang will be sold at auction in Scottsdale in January 2009 to benefit the Foundation.
The CARSTAR Super’Stang will be on view at the Orange Tree Resort between the 1st hole and 10th hole behind the driving range from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
